Welcome to Awatuna Sunset Lodge Hokitika

Awatuna Sunset Lodge is a stunning seaside B&B, just a 10-minute drive north of Hokitika.  The Lodge is a smoke-free, adult retreat with uninterrupted views of the Tasman Sea, and breath-taking sunsets.

With 3 beautifully appointed ensuite rooms, 2 of which are sea facing, Awatuna Sunset Lodge is a luxury boutique getaway offering personalised service at an affordable price.

Tasman, is our largest seaside room with rain head shower. Relax in the colours of the sea and enjoy all the luxuries to make your stay memorable.

Waimea, our other seaside room has the largest outdoor deck area. Beautifully appointed to reflect the gold that can be found behind our property in Waimea Creek.

Tui, is  our smallest and roadside road. This room still has every comfort you need for a short stay and reflects the colours of the Tui birds that live and nest on our property.

Discover our extensive gardens, enjoy homegrown, home cooked meals,  Barista-made coffee and meet our resident chooks.

Join us for a drink and homemade canapes at 6 pm.

Elizabeth has been making great coffee for 43 years, growing up in the well-renowned family business, Bar Coluzzi in Sydney.  She even made Selwyn do a Barista Course.

Stroll down to the beach and Waimea Creek or take a ride across it in Mad Max, our  amphibious craft. Selwyn, having worked as a tour guide, will take you across Waimea Creek to the beach. Here you can collect precious stones, watch the sunset or we can even cater for a picnic on the beach.
