Dining
Awatuna Sunset Lodge is becoming well known for their fine dining and invite you to enjoy a culinary experience. With reviews stating their food is Michelin Star Quality.
Food is prepared, garden-to-plate, local, with high quality ingredients, and freshly made-to-order from their À la carte menu, by owner and resident chef, Elizabeth, exclusively for our in-house guests. With Elizabeth’s background, growing up and working in her family’s award winning cafe in Sydney and Perth, Australia, Bar Coluzzi, she has extensive experience in the kitchen. As a registered nurse, she has a keen interest in diet, nutrition and allergies and can cater for most dietary requirements.
We require your first nights’ dinner order by 10 am the day before arrival as everything is made to order. Please advise us of any dietary requirements and we will aim to tailor your food for you.
For those on our Dinner, Bed and Breakfast package, a 3-course dinner is included in your stay.

Enjoy delicious breakfasts and dinners at what is arguably the best dining experience with the best views of the Tasman Sea on the West Coast. All food is made from scratch by Elizabeth including breads, crackers, pasta, pizza, sauces, dessert, gelato and jams.
Please note some vegetables may be substituted on the menu due to seasonal availability.

Breakfast
A hearty combination of cooked and Continental breakfast is included in your stay and served in the guest dining room or out on the deck between 7.30am-10.00am. Enjoy a relaxed morning and wake at your leisure. No need to set an alarm or provide a time for breakfast. It will be set up and ready for you.
Have you planned early morning activities or have a long day’s drive ahead? Early breakfasts are available on request.
Continental Breakfast
Enjoy a selection of breads, yoghurts and jams (all homemade)and freshly squeezed fruit juices as well as cereal and fruit served alongside a choice of teas or barista-made espresso coffee from our commercial coffee machine. Espresso coffee is available from 7 am.
Note: Gluten-free bread and crackers (please pre-order the day before arrival as they are made to order), soy, almond, and oat milks available.

Cooked Breakfast
Place your orders by 8pm the night of arrival ( menu available in your room) and enjoy an included delicious cooked breakfast in addition to the Continental breakfast selection. With eggs from their 30+ free-range chickens, they don’t get any fresher.
Choose from:
- Eggcelent Eggs: when you just want eggs and a slice of toast.
- Big Beach Brunch: eggs*, bacon, beef sausages, grilled tomato, and mushrooms.
- Best Bacon & Eggs: eggs*, and a side of bacon.
- Sensational Smoked Salmon: smashed avocado, smoked salmon, topped with a poached egg and served with sautéed mushrooms
- Very Vegetarian: eggs*, grilled tomato, avocado, spinach sautéed in garlic and lemon juice and mushrooms.
- Occasional Omelette: eggs with your choice of fillings: tomato, ham, cheese, bacon, mushroom, chives and avocado.
- Romano: avocado, grilled prosciutto crudo (Italian cured bacon)and garlic mushrooms served on homemade focaccia.
- Bbb bene & the eggs– Eggs Bene, homemade muffin, poached eggs and homemade hollandaise sauce
- French Toast – served with bacon, grilled banana and pure maple syrup.
*Your choice of poached, scrambled, boiled, sunny side-up or over easy eggs from our happy free-range chickens. Served with a slice of toast.

Dinner
We have decide to make all bookings from 1st December 2025* Dinner, Bed and Breakfast as nearly every guest dines in and this will help us to better prepare for service. Meals are served in the guest dining area or on the sea view deck.

With rave reviews from our guests, there are no set menus, but rather you will be treated to our al a carte menu, where you can choose food that is personally made for you from our extensive menu.
All bread, rolls, crackers, sauces, dressings and mayonnaise, pizza dough, pasta, desserts, and even gelato are all made by Elizabeth. With fruit and vegetables grown and picked daily on our property, or fresh fish from our local market, food doesn’t get any fresher.
Dinner is served at approximately 7 pm after our nightly drinks and canapés sun-downer.
We stock a large range of New Zealand wines, champagnes, local beers, and soft drinks for purchase. There is a $5.00 corkage per person for BYO (dinner service only).
*PLEASE NOTE: Dinner orders of entrée, and mains, are to be placed by 10 am the day prior for your first night’s stay. Dinner on subsequent nights are ordered during your stay.
Dessert can be ordered after your meal.
Vegan, dairy-free, allergy-free, and gluten-free options are available and made to order, please advise us of your requirements prior to your stay.






Drinks
A selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available to accompany your meals or as desired throughout your stay. Enjoy unlimited complimentary barista-made espresso coffees throughout your stay. Available from 7 am until 9 pm. Dairy-free milk option available. Or help yourself to complimentary tea and coffee through the day in the guest lounge.
For guest’s staying in the Lodge rooms, join us nightly at 6 pm for a complimentary sun-downer drink and canapés. Staying at Hydrangea Park and would like to join our sun-downers? Join us for only $15.00 per person.
We stock a large range of New Zealand wines, champagnes, local beers, and soft drinks for purchase.
