About Awatuna Sunset Lodge
Kia Ora, thanks for stopping by.
Owners Elizabeth and Selwyn have worked in tourism and accommodation for the past 10 years.
After two years travelling around New Zealand in a 9-metre bus searching for the ideal property, we found and purchased Awatuna Sunset Lodge in November 2019. The sea views took our breath away and we could see so much potential in the property and grounds.
The house was purpose-built as a Lodge in 2006. We spent two months renovating the property and working on the gardens before opening on 6th January 2020. We renamed the property Awatuna Sunset Lodge after the fabulous sunsets that can be viewed from the lodge.
Selwyn is a mechanic by trade and has worked in many fields including being a tour guide where he really enjoyed helping people to bungy jump. Selwyn also took quad bike and coach tours and enjoys teaching people about the local area.

Selwyn
Selwyn is a mechanic by trade and has worked in many fields, including being a tour guide where he really enjoyed helping people to bungy jump. He has also led quad bike and coach tours and enjoys teaching people about the local area. Using these skills, he takes guests on rides across Waimea Creek to the beach in our amphibious vehicle, ‘Radar’.
